oh bum,

went to work on Friday to be told that my department is to close and I will be leaving by Christmas (likely to be sooner)

anyone need IT skills, hardware design, software design, systems architect, coding, Linux experience, RTOS, GPS and telematic systems, graphics sub systems, working with mobile phone technology, .... long list of skills including knowing the hot end of a solder iron from the cold one!

at this stage I would even move for a good permanent position or may consider contract work.

ah well long shot but if anyone out there has any leads please do PM me.

Mu other half - also called Rob - was made jobless just two weeks ago - he was sent a letter during his holiday saying that they were paying him in leiu of notice and not to bother coming in anymore! And he doesn't have anything like the skills you have, he can't even drive. :( Minimum wage is rubbish.

Well, just to show that there is hope, both Furrtive and I came back from it - took me 5 years, mind, but it can be done. Good luck

Bad luck all round - and I'm afraid with the current economic mess brought about by the greedy 'bankers' selling mortgages to folks who obviously couldn't afford them - there will be many more jobs lost in the next 12 months. Why do I not see these 'bankers' being sent down the road with a kick in the pants to speed them on their way ?

Bet you they won't be spending 5 years on incapacity benefit either

They would be if I could get my hands on them!
My pension fund has taken a tremendous spanking thanks to these 'bankers'!
