Hi,
Can someone please tell me what the current Morris Minor valuation guide is?
I know it used to be in Minor Matters but I can't find it anymore.
Best wishes,
Elizabeth.

There's a guide in Practical Classics each month, don't have one to hand for precise numbers. It does vary greatly from model to model.

Thanks, I'll have a look for a copy.

My march copy of practical classics says the following:
Series 2 saloon : Condition 1 £2750, Condition 2 £1300, Condtion 3 £350.
1956-1970 1000 saloon: Condtion 1 £3500, Condition 2 £1750, Condition 3 £400.
Theres also the values for the mm's, tourers and travellers if you want those too.

Not yet finished - a few teething problems with wiring and panel fitting, and several ancillaries to sort out.... not long now, though, hopefully!

All very much underestimated in my opinion, the values have changed very little over the last ten years and are not truly representative.

as jonathon says absoulutly no use at all in the correct valuation of classics never varies very much from year to year.It has been listing my scimitar gtc at £3850 mid range for about four years when I know of several that have sold for about the £5000 mark . Minors are worth as little or as much as someone is prepared to pay. Should be a glasses guide for classics to sort the market out.

These 'values' are just a joke - so much depends on the condition of the car, there is no set value that can be applied. Best bet - study the form on ebay - willing sellers and willing buyers in an open market. There is no better way to establish a true value.

IMHO a car is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it. If it's priced too highly it doesn't sell.

Maybe now is the time that people should be forced into buying moggies. People will then be scouring fields and barns for moggies to restore just to satisfy the dictatorship. We would have to establish an army to ensure people abided by the law and didn't drive anything else!

The roads would look like scenes from the Borrowers!

1000 saloon, 3500 1750 400
series2 saloon 2750 1300 350
mm saloon 3600 2000 500
Not too sure now. a 1000 is worth more than a series 2?

the price guides seem to be from the 80's and 90's but updated a bit for inflation.
The reason series 2 was priced lower is because they are much less practical and durable than the 1000 and parts are less available.
These days they are probably more similar in price. The majority want a useable car (1000), and the minority want something for rarity value (SII/MM) - as the proportion of buyers matches the proportion of sellers the prices are similar.
With Minor commercials things are different to saloons as there is a very limited supply which has sent prices above that of saloons.
I've never seen a price guide that puts SII travellers on par with 1000 travellers however they are rare as hens teeth and priced accordingly! price guides usually show them as cheaper
Price guides in general: I've yet to see one that I agree with! They need to specify a price range and give some guidance to what makes it high or low in the range. 'Condition 2' is meaningless when you are actually buying a car.
