im interested to find out what sort of speedo error to expect. my diff is 3.9:1 and tyres are 175/70r13

the gear ratio for the speedo cable on the datsun box is 17/5

The easiest way is to borrow a Sat Nav that will tell you exactly.

hi i have a Dustan 5 speed box in my pick up
running off a 1275-cc Ital. engine .
i ran the pick up with the sat nav and marked off the speedo
then take thinners and remove the white no. and replace with
small vinyl at the correct points .
i had to get the speedo cable made up by a specialist as the first attempt failed after about 5 miles.

They're almost entirely impossible to find in the UK. You may be better off asking on Minor Mania or one of the other NZ/Aus sites.

I dunno how badobs' managed to find one. Very lucky chap.

I'm wondering the same thing
I've got a Datsun B210 Automatic transmission in mine, but since the Morris speedo needle sticks and moves erratically, it's hooked up to a Datsun speedo under the dash (pretty funky looking, I might add). It was this way when I got it. Had my mechanic try attaching it.

BTW- any way to service a Morris speedo for a sticking needle, or should I just seek another one?

BTW- tip I heard on a US board for splicing two speedo cables together is to use an electrical butte connector. Crimp the ends tight and you are good to go. Seems like you could make an outer sleeve to keep dust and dirt out.
