Passenger door won't lock

Post by dcn41 »

Hi, the passenger door on our 4 door Morris Minor 1000 won't move into the lock position and the door won't open from the inside but is ok to open from outside. When the door is opened and we move the inside handle the parts (ie the part that holds the door shut, that clicks into the main body of the car) appear to be doing what they should in order to open the door from the inside but it doesn't work - sorry for long winded description but am not very technical! Any advice would be great! thanks.

Hi
I had a similar problem a few years ago. I cured it by taking off the inner door card, and lubricating all moving parts of the mechanism with grease and tightening up any screws that were loose (there were a few). It seemed to do the trick, all has worked as it should since.

It could be that part of the mechanism has come loose, as suggested by Dom it may just be a loose fixing screw but taking the door card of should make things more obvious.
Cheers
