Diesel engine candidates for a morry minor?

Post by morrisman1 »

hi guys and girls,

Im new to this site, one of my current project morrys is a 1962 4 door which was destined for a datsun 1200 engine like what my ute has, but today i thought to myself, why dont i put a diesel engine in. that way it would be unique, cheap to run (we make our own fuel) and reasonably grunty.

does anyone know of some good small diesel engines that would be suitable for use in the morry? i was thinking of a modern mechanical injection unit like the PSA 1.5 litre unit that went into the 106. ive gotta keep the weight down so nothing too large. of course there must be a suitable gearbox available aswell

cheers,
Cameron

In THEORY the LT77 gearbox off a 1.9 Peugeot powered LDV CityVan should mate up to the smaller diesel lump.

Hmmm - that's interesting - I happen to have two spares sitting in the garage!
