Anyone know anything about Villiers motorcycle engines?

My father has just purchased a Villiers Quadricycle Section Car. It has a Villiers motorcycle engine of some description (2 stroke). Does anyone know of a good parts/manual supplier? I don't mind if they are in the UK, I get all my moggie parts from Pommyland already.

I bought a book on these engines a few years ago, I will try to find it. The chap who compiled it is an enthusiast, who may still be around, will try to get more info.

Just found the book, it's by Jack Sizer and the book number is

Hmm...not quite the quadricycle I was thinking of. The one my father has purchased runs on rails. Used as a maintenance vehicle for fettlers. Apparently, they go like the clappers!
I'm quite sure that the engine information will come in handy though. Cheers Les, I'll see if I can get a hold of that book.

Loads of suppliers in UK. Just search on internet: www.nortonviliers.com(yes-they are still in business!)are one. Also look deeply at www.lortim.demon.co.uk They have lists of suppliers on their site, but "better than that"- they are nutters who race these engines and get 40hp out of the old 250 series!!! They have an EXCELLENT book on tuning the engines-useful for any 2-stroke tinkerer as it goes into the theory of port/time areas, exhaust design, head design etc (a very serious document) You may end up creating some new speed record if you go about it right, can't be many race tuned rail maintenance trucks around!! Cheers Pete. I'll definitely look those sites up. As for tuning...we ran the thing on the weekend and it gets to about 60km/h at tickover. I'd hate to think of the state of my underpants if we opened the throttle.
