Missing A Core Plug

New to Minors, but not new to getting underneath cars.....

F reg 4 door - 1100cc - recon engine a few years back, and then abandoned. Just got the car.

One of the core plugs seems to be missing - metal plug about 2pence piece sized in centre of block on RHS of engine.

How do I get this replaced? Easy job? Motor out job? Rough cost?

Thanks

If you can get access to it then easy enough. Just clean out the hole, insert new plug, and give it a bang on the centre of the dome to fix it in place. Likely though it's been forced out by water freezing in the block - and the expanding ice has forced the plug out. So - worthwhile inspecting the other plugs - and the block - carefully for ice damage.

Thanks for that info - sounds like I can DIY it then. Car went away to storage in running order and came back with missing core plug. Rest of the block seems fine.

I think muppetry by the bloke who was suposed to store it......

Who does core plug kits?

You can buy them individually I think from most suppliers. Try BullMotif - and certainly Minispares and Minisport will have them.
