Has anyone any experience of sub standard re con units. On another forum a member has had one come apart not long after it was fitted. Apparently there is a quality issue (again) with new dampers and some suppliers are advising against fitting them, but if re con ones are also sub standard where next.

I am surprised that 'new' lever arm dampers are still available - unless new-old-stock?

In this instance they are for a Midget and are new copies.

Are recon dampers sub standard? I'm a bit confused by this post. Are you saying the new copies or the recon dampers are not up to scratch?

I've not seen any comments about either new or re-con, until now. So I guess in general they must be ok!

I bought 2 rear recons from BM recently and they are very good. The key to the quality is in the state of the units submitted in exchange. If the castings are worn then the recon will not be any good as it cannot be sucessfully bushed, so always check for play in the arm before submitting for exchange or accepting recon units....
