Mini wheel arches

Post by benno »

Hello all,
I am about to undertake a fully customized minor which will have some very wide steel wheels. The wheels will stick out past the edge of the standard wings so i was wondering if anyone had fitted a set of Mini arches. Idealy it would be a set of the black plastic Mini Special Arches which i guess would have some flex in.
Any feedback is appreciated as always
cheers Ben

Im not sure the mini special arches will look right. They are very tapered. A set from an aftermarket mini bodykit may look a little more even?

Have you considered sectioning the wings and adding a strip to widen them?

I did originaly consider that but I quite like the way the arches flare out on a Mini etc. I also know u can buy the wider arches to accomodate wider wheels but im on a tight budget for the whole project and wanted to keep all steel panels. I think I might buy a very cheap set of the plastic Mini arches too see how they look/fit for mocking up.

If you havent already seen take a look in the modified section under show off your twincam. Great pic of a minor with cool extensions.

Yeh cheers for that Rod, exactly what i'm thinking of but i'm not intending to try and blend them in to the wings as I like the 'rivited' look.

Find an old mk2 XR2 and have the bodykit off it.
Nicely flared plastic arches, cut the bottom 'joiner' bits off and I recon you could make a nice job of it.
What would Macgyver do..?

I was going to suggest something similar. Measure the open space of the arch, get down to a bg scrappy and find some cars with similar arches and plastic extensions.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
