Rear spring shackle plates

Hi All, I was fitting (been rained off) new rear springs to my 2door. The n/s spring hanger was replaced and when I offer up the front end of the spring the pin/bolt doesn't quite line up. I seem to remember somebody saying they had to use longer shackle plates as the spring hanger repair sections are not accurately made or difficult to weld in exactly. I am also using new springs so this might not be helping.

Does anyone have or know where to buy longer shackle plates and if I fit them to one side presumbly when I renew the o/s spring I will also need to use the same length of shackle plate.

Lastly with longer shackle plates does this alter the ride height at the rear of the car?

Cheers, Jeff

Try fitting the front end of the spring first! Correct fitting sequence is front end of spring, then locate spring dowel in axle carrier plates and loosely fit the U-Bolts. then rear of spring to shackles.

Longer shackle plates will increase the ride height slightly.

Easy to make Jeff - just a strip of steel same width/thickness as original and drill the holes where you want them. If the holes are 1" further apart than original then the car will be lifted by 1/2".

But yes - you should fit the front end of the spring first and then the rear will almost certainly line up ok.

Have you asked jonathon like I suggested? I thought he said he sold them.
