Hi everyone!
I would like some seats like the newton commercials, you know the ones reclining with headrests, but they are so expensive!
Just wondered if anyone knew of a supplier a bit cheaper ?
Thought i'd add some pictures for a change

I would be very suprised if NC manufacture their own seat frames. I would imagine they recover something like Metro seats, so your cheapest route would be to find a scrapper and recover them yourself....

I think someone said they are currently using Rover 100 frames. They have in the past used MG Metro frames. The posh covers are the expensive bit though...

I agree, the covers are the expensive part. So, hunt around scrapyards until you find a seat which matches your trim and then make it fit the car. The basic setup of bolting seats to the floorpan with 2 fixing points makes fitting alternative seats quite easy....

NC seats may well be expensive, but they are excellent & very comfortable on long journeys. Like all the modern seats you can fit into a Minor, they do reduce access to the rear seats in a 2 door or a trav, and they leave rear seat passengers with much less leg room.

I think that sums it up nicely Mary.

I'd go for the earlier NC seats as in the ebay advert as they offer better leg and back support. The new NC seats are too short in the base squab and not very well padded, the frame is also disappointing.

I had a pair of metro seats fitted through a wooden block.
Perfectly fine and cheap.
You can also buy seat frames to fit metro seats.
The only issue with metro seats is their comparatively large size. If/when I get another Minor I'll be using old fiesta/escort seats instead as they're a lot smaller and thinner.

It's very difficult to recommend seats as comfort is a personal thing. Also the seats in any one model did vary over the years.
I had a smashing set of Metro jobs in one Minor but have tried some truly awful Metro seats too.
You'd do well to get down to a scrapyard and try a few out and get back to us to see if anyone knows if your choice will go in OK.
As a benchmark I've heard of Rover 200/25, Metro, Saab 9000, Fiesta and Volvo 340/480 seats in Minors. Generally, VW group seats are useless because the runners are part of the car not the seat.
