Insurance valuations

The MMOC has an agreed value specialist insurance scheme to provide members with cover for their Morris Minors. A recent survey conducted by an insurance expert within the Club showed this to operate one of the best policies for classic cars. Insurance valuations for cars outside the Practical Classics price guide, can be arranged.
Can someone please tell me if I need to get an Insurance valuation done?

I am with AON and I just told them a value based on the condition B price guide in Minor Matters and sent photos when I first took out the policy.

They never asked for a valuation certificate but I am unsure of what would happen if I ever had to make a claim.

I recently sent off for the list of approved valuers but the nearest to me is on Skye, which is the opposite side of Scotland to me.

Hopefully I did understand what was ment by 'agreed value' right the first time but I just wanted to be sure.

We are with AON also and we've never had any official valuations. From what I understand they base the value on the form you fill out listing the description of the vehicle and compare what "you" think its worth to what "they" think its worth. I guess this works OK for cars that fall into "standard" categories but if you went along and said yours was worth £10k they would probably want an official valuation to support this.

Yes thats similar to Footman James who only want official valuations for cars above a certain value, for the more run of the mill cars current photo's ect are considered acceptable.
