Insurance providers!

Im 17, just passed my driving test and desperately need insurance on my recently purchased morris minor.

My problem is that I can hardly find any reasonable cheap insurers, I could either register my dad as the main driver and then myself as a second driver or just register myself as the main driver (whichever is cheapest).

In peoples experience with classic cars and insurance which provider is cheapest and should I register as the main or second driver?

Cheers,
Rhys

I think the club's arrangement with AON is supposed to be the cheapest for young drivers.

I would try AON, Carol Nash, Footman James, register as main driver on a limited mileage policy. Never going to be cheap I'm afraid, weo;; not till you reach 30 something :D

This is the crime of defrauding insurance company of their correct premium.
It's called "fronting" ie claiming an older driver, who will get cheaper cover, is the main driver on a vehicle that is really that of the younger person.
The penalty, if caught, is 6 points / loss of licence for younger person who has recently passed a test due to not having valid insurance (because of being obtained fraudulently), points on older persons licence for aidiing and abetting insurance fraud, fines to both and difficulty for both (including older driver) getting cover again for reasonable cost.
In other words don't even consider registering in your fathers name unless it's actually your fathers car and he is the MAIN user.

CIS - Co-Operative Insurance are not too bad for young drivers - I used them for my daughter to learn in a Mini. But if 'Dad' is registered as the main driver - then he MUST BE the main driver ! ie - he must drive the car more than you do! I sorted that by taking the Mini to work at least one day per week - and any other excuse i could find - and so could genuinely say I drove the Mini more miles per week than my daughter.

Most of the younger drivers on the site have found Aon to have the best prices.
