Odd problem just happened today on my 1963 traveller - indicators worked fine on the way to work then suddenly coming home refused to flash - the odd thing is the green light on the indicator stalk was on all the time even in the centre "off" position - ended up taking the bulb out it was so annoying. All the indicator bulbs work - just no flash. While likely to be the flasher unit and have ordered a couple from Bull Motif can't explain why the green light is always on. The indicator stalk is brand new (1 month old) as is the flasher unit.
Any thoughts?

Either faulty flasher unit (why order one - get it at hellfrauds or any auto parts store!) or much more likely a shorted connection at the stalk. If you take the two wires off the flasher unit - and join them together - your indicators should work as normal except of course, there will be no flashing! So this is the first test - and see what happens. The green light is connected between the two side circuits - so for it to be ON a feed must be going to one side continuously and then it's earthing through the other side.

Thanks bmcecosse - it was the flasher unit. Not keen on giving my money to hellfrauds - my local one doesn't stock the right part anyway.

I don't understand how that would bring on the little green light all the time ? Yes I agree about hellfrauds - but sometimes it does make sense to save time and postage. The Minor flaher is a very basic one - they should have had one to do the job!

I don't understand it either unless there was some shortcircuit inside the relay that connected the live input to the P output. Think I'll take it apart and have a gander

sorry to high jack the thread but can anyone tell me which terminal on the flasher goes to which wire on the loom, i'e live feed to ? etc
