New member from Horncastle

Post by BigStew »

Well I took the plunge yesterday and bought my 1st Morris , involved a 500 mile round trip from Horncastle to Anglesey. 1st job is an engine service as it really needs a good tune up , plugs and points etc. Went out for the first time this evening ,it was quite an eye opener as my other car is a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7l V8.
Are there any other members in the Horncastle area ? :D

Bigstew,

The MMOC Eastern Regional Rally takes place on Sunday (3rd August) at Revesby Country Fair, Horncastle. Might be worth popping along to meet up with local owners :D

The Lincolnshire branch is also very active:

... while I now live in Cambridge, I grew up a bit to the south of Horncastle and went to school at QEGS :-)

If you do go to Revesby, the route over the tops by Winceby is dead fun in a moggy, and you're likely to meet Will Dickson at the rally - his garage in Toynton specialises in morrises and my family have been visiting him for 20 years or so. Highly recommendable.

Happy motoring!

Welcome aboard Bigstew and I hope you have lost of fun in your new Moggie and in case you dont realise there are quite a few specialists that supply spares at a better price than your local motor factors.
Cheers

Thanx for the welcome, just got in from giving Shrek a new set of plugs and a tank of fresh petrol as it had been wrapped up in the last owners garage for the pasted year and was running very rough. Well it now runs spot on , just managed to touch 70mph down hill and an easy 60 on the flat ,without stressing things too much. Well Happy

bmc, "the tops" 'round Horncastle are rather less deserving of the name than the ones you get in ecosse! It is Lincolnshire, after all... though the slope down to join the Coningsby road's pretty good for screwing a bit of extra speed out if you're thrill seeking!
