Door hinges.....

Having got worn door hinges, I have purchased oversized hinge pins. The hinge bodies need drilling out to 21/64" to take the oversize pins.

Has anyone done this, and got any tips? Is it as simple as put the hinge body in a vice & ream it out with a 21/64" drill bit in an electric drill??

cheers,
N

I've never done this myself, but if I was, i'd use a pillar drill equipped with a vice to hold the hinge securely in the right position. Pillar drill-vice to ensure the enlarged hole was drilled true to the vertical.

You may find, as I did, that the hinge has already enlarged enough to drift the new pins in without any drilling at all.... Good times :-)
