Light engine mods

Just wondering, does anybody know if any basic engine modifications can be done, mainly to improve aceleration, that will not affect my insurance at all?
I doubt it is possible as even the smallest and most insignificant mods seem to boost young peoples insurance up no end

Well - they don't seem to charge any more for a 1098 engine, so if yours is a 948 (it should be in that car) that would be a way to go! 48 horses against 37 from the 948.

my 56' splitty has a 1275 sprite engine (55 bhp on recent dyno run
) front discs and telescopic dampers
It still only cost £45 inc a £15 service charge to add it to my Allegro policy with Footman James which started at just £99 fully comp, unlimited milage, driving other cars 3rd party AND 35 days European cover!!!

I think you might find a larger engine in standard format is going to be more acceptable than any mods to an insurance company - 948 to 1098 & 1098 to 1275.
Personally I find the 948 in my A35 and 1098 in my Minor perfectly adequate for the vehicles.
I remember talking at a chap who had his car featured in Hot Car magazine. He'd fitted a Rover V8 into a 1500 Triumph Dolimite. The increase in premium was less than if he'd fitted a 1850 engine
