If you are interested in dropping off your barbecue items and joining the convoy at Mark's house please phone him [don't PM me] to get directions on:

07721 777970
My email server is down [ETA for restored service is Friday] and not sure how reliable the rest of the service is.

The Bedford Branch invites you to join them on Sunday 17th August.

http://www.ramsey1940sweekend.info/

Last time we went we were asked to exhibit our vehicles and didn't have to pay entry.....totally unexpected!

It's a really interesting day, they create a really authentic atmosphere.

Anybody want to dress up?

And, no, I'm not on commission

Oh rats.....

It clashes with another charity event:

Rotary Club of Oxford Isis Trust Fund are holding an event on
Sunday 17th August.
They are inviting motor cars built at Cowley or with some association with the Oxford Pressed Steel Plant.

OK Dale.

Anyone wanting to convoy, please pm for details of where we're meeting.

Sorry Bill.

I committed myself to the Bedford Branch rally as I've been so slack in keeping intouch with them. And they are a great bunch.

I want to do both!

To be honest I don't know if we'll be going, as we will have only just got back from the LEO.

Update from Mark who is organising this rally:

Ramsey 1940’s Weekend
RAF Upwood

Sunday 17th August 2008

Ramsey will be turning back the clocks again for its hugely popular and award winning World War II inspired event. This year’s entertainment includes children’s tank rides, Lindyhop dance lessons, living history displays, vintage clothing fashion show and live swing music. There will also be stalls offering all things 1940’s, including homemade cakes and spam sandwiches.

Rather than driving in convoy from Bedford as we did last time, I suggest meeting at my house 9.30 – 10.00am for tea/coffee, and then drive in convoy to RAF Upwood – approx. 5 miles away. You are all invited to return to my house for a bring-and-burn BBQ at 4.00pm (ish!). You are welcome to drop off any meat/veggie burgers etc. in my fridge in the morning. Rolls and salad will be provided.

PM Squiggle for address/directions.

I’ll put some direction signs out.

For the first time, members of the National Codes Centre at Bletchley Park will be bringing to life their display of the Enigma codes of WW2 and a genuine Enigma machine.

As well as the outfits of the 1940’s, the weekend will also put the spotlight on the machines that made the age iconic, with displays of jeeps, armoured cars, classic cars and motorbikes. In addition there will be flying displays by a Lancaster Bomber and Hurricane of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Tours of the Turbine Motor Works will be on offer, whilst in Ramsey, many shops will be decorated with a 1940’s theme. There will be a farmers market and vintage bus service linking the town to RAF Upwood.

Adults £6
Seniors £4
Children £4
Under 4’s Free

Shame you're busy.

We'll make up for it on your 40th Dale.

Not sure about the fly past tho'........

Might be able to scramble a 'squabble' of starlings.
