main bearings

Post by aupickup »

have just stripped an engine

i want to replace the main bearings, the crankshaft is fine, but outer main bearings need replacing

the centre main bearing is stamped std obviously standard, but the outer 2 do not have std on them just a circle with v and p stamped inside the circle

can i take it that all the bearings will be standard

by the way all con rod bearings stamped std

Coincidentally I'm just checking a crankshaft...

If the crankshaft is standard the main journals will measure 1.75" ( 44.45mm) and the big end journals will measure 1.625" (41.275mm).

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Well - the only way to be SURE is to mic them - but never heard of a regrind where mains were different sizes! Note on 1275 engine the mains will be 2.000" !!
