Slack Choke Control

I have to use the reliable old clothes peg method of retaining the choke control in the "on" position for the short time its required on cold mornings. Does anyone know a bodge, er, I mean fix, for this without changing the cable. Not sure if I can still get the correct cable/knob arrangement to replace completely.

I assume the choke will not hold on even if you twist the knob to lock it?
If this is the case, pull choke out to expose the metal between knob and dash (sounds rude) and put a couple of crimps in the metal with pliers. Sorted for another 100,000 miles.

You assume correct - someone I guess has forced it in the past and damage the locking mech - Like your bodge though - will try it, Thanks
