Anyone know what this delightful little bird is?

Visited my garden yesterday.

Yellowhammer?

Not a yellowhammer...

My barely-educated guess is that it's a juvenile greenfinch starting to get the greeny-yellow adult colour. It looks to me a bit like this: http://www.garden-birds.co.uk/birds/ima ... finch5.jpg

My other clue is that looks like thistle seed in the feeder, and greenfinches love that in our garden

With what / how was the photo taken ?
It's good quality if digital and taken from a distance.
No way would my digital camera take such a clear pic at anything other then close to.

Its an escaped canary

I think it might be a Finch of some sort but I'm fairly sure it's a juvenile as it appears to be changing plumage.

Thanks and yes it's nyger seed in the feeder. And there are green finches and goldfinches [with juvenile] visiting the garden this year. Along with the other usual suspects. Joy!

Treated myself to a Panasonic TZ5. Total extravagance.

Bread and water for the foreseeable future....

But the guy in the shop let me 'play' with it, then all the others seems uninteresting. Good sales technique. Was in shock for a while when I realised what I'd spent!

I've just treated myself to a Canon eos 350D. It was half price through my work because it was pre-used - by me as it happens!
I couldn't afford it and I have to be honest it's the FIRST time i've bought something non-essential on credit. I just said to h*** with it, I've wanted a decent camera since i was at college, I'm never going to justify the cost so it's now or never .

I've recently bought a Pentax K100D - I've wanted a Digital SLR since the invented them, and finally took the plunge!
