hello! i think the general idea would be yes, they definitely will fit, but i believe they would over fuel a 948...that said, when they work well, you would notice the difference! then they would go out of tune, and not work so well, then you will buy a big single SU like everyone should! speaking from experience here! still persisting with the dellorto though!

Nothing wrong with twins on a 948, or at least no more wrong than twins on any A series IMO

You'd be better off with a single HIF38, or HS4 (HIF is better, HS is easier to source) though. If you want to retain the Minor exhaust then the easy way is a Mini inlet/ exhaust manifold (complete with power sapping hot spot though), otherwise there's plenty of aftermarket alloy inlets but then you need to either chop the exhaust manifold off a combined one or look at an LCB and aftermarket system (far better flowing, but also far more expensive).

The main advantage of the twin SUs when fitted by BMC on the 948 Sprite - was the elimination of that exhaust hot spot - but of course to be a Sports Car it HAD to have twin carbs in these days! . You can get virtually the same power increase just by fitting a good alloy inlet manifold with even the original single SU. But as already said by others - going up to a larger 1.5" SU would be better. However - the 948 engine's main problem is the miserable camshaft lift and timing, and the poor flowing cylinder head which has small inlet valves. If you really want it to GO - then these should be changed along with some improved carburation.
