Hi all im getting to that point where im running out of things to do, Ive been putting off finishing the windscreen finisher for a while now due to it being fiddly and the replacement chrome is £40!
Ive got the screen in the rubber, in the car and the 2 piece finisher with the slidy clips to join the 2 halves. How do I add the finishers to the rubber?

ive got the same problem,
the correct sequence to fit it is fit rubber to screen then chrome to rubber then fit to car. don't know if its any easier as i'm waiting till i can afford a heated screen before i try.

With great difficulty I'm afraid. There is a special tool available from ESM and BM. Most people end up fitting the plastic type finisher, as very few have ever managed to get the chrome one in without destroying it.

Objection!!! With plenty patience it can be done. I managed twice so far, first check should be that the rubber is the correct type , if it's the later type it could only take the plastic finisher not the stainless one. (actually this happened to me as well)
So as said earlier: rubber to the screen, finisher to the rubber and screen and then the whole lot goes into the car.
Dont give up if some of the finisher pops out a bit, it can be worked in again when the screen is fitted in the car... good luck

you 1000 owners are lucky you should try to fit the insert(if you can get one) to a split screen

is there any way to fit the 2 piece finisher after the screen is in the car? can the plastic one be fitted after the screen is in the car?
How different does the plastic finisher look compared to the metal one?

The two piece stainless type finisher is indeed fitted to the screen rubber
BEFORE the complete assembly is then fitted to the car. I watched a professional fitter make it look very easy!

I think the plastic finisher would not fit the early type rubber!!! Did anyone succeed to do it anyway?

bTW, I did manage to insert the stainless steel finisher in the ruber AFTER it was installed in the car, it was hard but with a lot of persuation (and some thoughts of smashing the cars to bits...lol...) its possible
I think the stainless finisher is much nicer than the plastic and more durable!!
