Some words about it...

I would guess the 'Eye of Ra' but thought that was 90 degrees different.
I'll have a look ant BigG's link and see if it makes my guess sound silly

My link doesn't seem to mention an Egyptian connection, but I was certain that there was one

I was told it was the hand of Nefertitti - we have a family bracelet from the 1920's with the hand on it which came from Eqypt.

The only eye I know of in Egyptian culture was the eye of Horus. There is however a similar 'eye in hand' symbol used by the native americans, surrounded by a knotted rattlesnake.

The eye of Horus is/was the eye of Ra, and I've also realised a place I knew something similar from - the US dollar bill
