Morris Minor Owners Club

Due to being confined to our stand all weekend, I am just curious as to what the future development aspect of the display consisted of.

Likewise - the only times I saw the display were Friday night and Monday morning... and there was only 1 car there then.

Didnt include a marina did it?!!!!

I think it was mainly 'explained' on Sunday but I was elsewhere then.

the photographer was selling a disc with all the images of the day on it. might be worth an inquiary

Just saw it here as part of the intro to the National

As part of this display, apart from the 'official' developments, it might have included (if this was not the case) such developments as yours Jonathon, as well as other individuals modifications.

Mary 'Dogs to Music' Ray wasn't there either. Just a local dog training club who were at last year's rally. Not complaining, but others may have been disappointed.

Does anyone know if a meeting to discuss the quality of replacement parts was called? It seems that there were quite a few traders there, so it would have provided the perfect opportunity.

Nope,we were not approached, and I cannot answer about the 'individuals' being asked.
We were not invited to any trader meeting over the weekend, and to be fair most traders were off site at 5.30pm . A prudent step here might be an invitation to all traders to attend an MMOC sponsored meeting to discuss the issues of parts and the working group looking at the trade.

Tried that last year, a number of traders complained that they were too busy setting up and selling, and that the National was not the place to hold a meeting. For all the vocality of complaints, the meetings that we have held have been very poorly attended.

I am sorry, but after having managed a warranty department within a large company for more than 23 years, and having dealt with a great number of suppliers and manufacturers etc worldwide, I cannot understand what is preventing a club representative gathering the relative information and investigating justifiable complaints directly.

just my 2p but would it be better to have a "virtual" meeting over IRC or similar? it would mean the traders would not all have to travel to one place to discuss the problem.
If face to face would be better wouldn't the AGM be a better place than the national. i would imagine most traders are MMOC members anyway.

I personally do not feel that an AGM is the right place for this kind of meeting. However in my own case I did arrange to meet suppliers etc at shows, hence my asking about the National.

Well it was a daft idea to have a meeting on the friday when traders had traveled and were setting up stands and stock. Don't think many traded that evening either.
The working group was a sound ,principled idea, but to only have three meetings in two years is, maybe, a sign of the commitment to its idea by the club.
The vast majority of issues with chrome ,electricals and panels are not the traders fault, but the manufacturers. No point in shouting for better parts from traders as there is an equal camp of the public demanding ever cheaper parts. Which by nature will be of substandard quality. Simply blaming traders for parts quality will not endear them to the club and its members. The traders are well aware of the issues you/we all have which is why most do a recommended product and also like Bull Motif put a warning about parts quality in their catalogue.One must also remember that two of the largest minor traders are responsible for producing parts that have been entered as being substandard, would the MMOC exclude these traders from advertising their wares , I think not. TheMMOC ought also to sort out their policy on traders who have has CCJ's set against them due to poor quality service/practice, a guide line on this was outlined previously but it would seem that there is still some anomalies in continuity of punishment.
Believe it or not a lot of traders are not MMOC members, as traditionally the trade seem to have been seen as a group who need to be tollerated rather than actively involved in Minor matters.
This is borne out by their current exclusion from the traders working party.
The AGM might be the sensible option for a meeting, but adequate time should be allowed for both this and the AGM, otherwise we will find matters rushed, as has previously happened.
