... Has anyone ever thought about pitting a smear of copper slip on the points in the dizzy/ fuel pump?
I realise it might upset the gapping a bit but wouldnt it also do either:
a) provide a sacrificial surface for the arcing
b) possibly due to the heat/current in the dizzy it might even bond the copper into the contact surfaces?

Might be daft but just a thought

Points last for years - if the capacitor is good. Don't go near them with Copperslip! Usually what happens is the 'heel' on the cam wears and the gap closes up - so you could try a bit on there. But Cslip is not really a 'grease' as such - it's an anti-seize compound.
