Hello everyone. I've just bought myself a Minor van and need some advice on tyre pressures, it's fitted with 165 x 14 tyres. What are the correct pressures? Thanks in advance. Fudge

26PSI all round if unladen. 28PSI for rears if carrying a load.

Well - if on standard 3.5" wheels these tyres are definitely on the wide side and it will wobble around - best go to at least 30 psi. Even if on the later van wide wheels - they are right on the limit for 4.5" wheels, so I would still say 30 psi.

If my tyres are too wide what should I be using?

If they are the standard rims 145's are ideal but if they are the later van LP917 rims 155's are ideal, the code for the wider rims is normally stamped on or by one of the hub cap lugs, unless of course you have an aftermarket rim as one of the specialist does a 5j rim that will take 165's or 175's.

The 165s are just about ok on the wide rims - but really far too wide if only narrow rims. 155 on narrow rims are about the sensible limit - many of us (including me) prefer the 155s. In fact the real nearest alternative to the original 5.00/5.20 tyres are 135 x 14 - but seem to be impossible to get these days.
