Hi all,

my 1970 Traveller is being restored. I had a phone call today from the bodyshop. They have somehow managed to lose the bit of timber that goes between the rear wheel arches and supports the boot floor.

From memory it's a straight plank that is painted black and is about 20mm thick and 100mm wide and is long enough to fit between the wheel arches.

Can someone with a traveller please measure this bit on their car and let me know the dimensions so I can make a new piece.
and is it just a flat plank or are there any cutouts in it.

I also need to know the height from the top of the timber to the chassis.

thanks
Moray

They are shaped to fit each wheel arch plus the cut out bit for the petrol feed pipe,do query how they lost them  surely it's down to them to replace??

Moray is talking about the plank underneath the floorboards, not the boards themselves.

There's a little bracket on the right hand side that the spare wheel rests on.

These pictures were taking during the restoration. Unfortunately I can't get at the plank now to measure it without removing the back seat and the floor covering and taking the floorboards up.

Hi Moray

Measurements are 27mm x 85mm, Length 990mm at shortest point and 1015mm at longest point, as the timber angles at the ends.

Good luck :D

Thanks for your replies.

I'm making one up to get to the bodyshop.

from the look of the photos above the spare tyre holder is just a piece of angle iron bolted to the the plank.

They need it so they can fit the brackets for the timber to the new inner wheel arches.

it's the last thing they need before sending it off for paint.

cheers

There's also another bit of wood as a spacer between the angle iron and the plank.
