trafficator contacts

my trafficator arm wouldn't come out properly so I stripped it out and gave it a good clean, whilst cleaning it the wire that goes from the rear end to the front with a coil in the middle broke in two. so I made a jig up and soldered the ends together, the bulb sits on the coiled part I think but where does the other end of the bulb fit to get a contact for the light to light up, I have put the whole thing back into the car and everything works except the bulb lighting, any words of wisdom would be a great help. cheers "mungo" '56 splitty
