engine swap

hi everybody im after some advice i own a 68 minor van running a 2ltr
fiat twin cam but want something more modern so has anybody tried using a vauxhall 2ltr red top? any advice would be great. thanks

Hi Matty1 and welcome,
If the T/C is already well fitted and in good order, you can get quite a lot of bhp from it. (I think the record for an 8v, turbocharged is 395bhp - more for a 16v). But parts are getting a bit expensive.
On the other hand, if it's knackered, it could be more cost-effective to change to a more modern engine with cheaper spare parts. If the XE then you'll probably have to notch the front member (JLH does this though his speciality is Zetecs) to fit it in.

thank you. at the mo its got a strada arbarth lump in it but its seen better days so would be cheaper to swap. was thinking about a zetec
but vaux lump comes with better power as standard

It depends what gearbox is fitted as it would make sense to keep it too. Is there a more recent Fiat engine that fits to the twin cam box? In much the same way there are lots of Ford motors that go on the type 9

its got a 131 gearbox in it which is in good order and only other fiat
engine that springs to mind is the fiat 20v turbo from the coupe now that would be interesting
