My first post so hello to all!

Just joined the madness and bought a 1968 saloon (Reg on 3rd Jan so made in 1967?). It's a pale blue/grey but has been done with touch up spray in various shades. The doors are in urgent need of attention with a full re-spray to follow but I'm struggling with the colour, I've done a search but can't find a match.

The only clue is an old tin of Holts spray with 'BMC Grey/Haze Blue BLB4015' marked on the lid which seems to be a good match. Is this an offical colour code and correct for year?

Hi and welcome to the messageboard and indeed to moggie ownership
A common colour for minors of that era was smoke grey (even though it's called smoke grey it looks more like light blue) so it is probably that.
I'm sure somebody on here will have a photo of one to show you.

Hi there,i would agree to smoke grey paint but there are 2 shades BU15/BU 15A one is bluer i think 15A take car to motor factors to be sure!

Thanks for the replies, I've tried different settings on my printer with the color chart and I think we're getting close with Smoke Grey.

This is more difficult than my past experience. For years I've suffered from 'Land Rovers' (a nasty, addictive, condition), but I fear it's now mutated with 'Morris' complications......

Painting Land Rover's is easy. Get a tin of Bronze Green (all 'real' Land Rovers are Bronze Green), some friends, some beer, a sunny afternoon and off you go.

I've been three days filling and rubbing the Moggy doors,with several still to go. More time than I've spent on body work in years so I'm determined not to muck it up with the wrong colour.
