Hi guys,I was changing the wheels on my girlfriends 1995 1.0 16v litre Nissan micra.When i noticed that the pcd looked 4 inches.I tryed a moggie wheel on her micra and it fitted .I also tryed her micra wheel on my moggie witch also fitted .But the light was getting poor and it started to rain,So i had to pack up quick.I will try the wheels again tommorrow.Anybody already know about this?

The Nissan Micra is 100mm. The Minor is 101.6mm (4"). That isn't close enough.

How come it fits on the hub? :S

Micra wheels are 100mm PCD whereas Minor are 4" / 101.6mm.
Might not seem a lot of difference but although they MIGHT seem to fit the nuts won't seat properly.

I was sure they fit ok,I even done the studs up tight and put the weight of my vehicle on the wheel.Oh well i guess it was more wishful thinking.

You will be bending the studs - only slightly (16 thou each) - but others have suffered broken studs/loss of wheel some way down the road. Don't do it!!

You can get what is called "wobble nuts", where the taper is floating and is supposed to take up slight discrepancies in PCD, but personally I regard such as a bodge.

I lost 3 out of 4 studs on a rear wheel many years ago whilst going around a bend on an off slip ramp after fitting 100mm PCD wheels to the back of my minor. It was not a pleasant experience and one i would never like to repeat!
I dread to think of what would have happened if the fourth one had gone!

just a question while you're at it did anyone try Toyota Yaris wheels? my pick-up came with these fitted when I bought it they seemd to fit pretty well except they needed spacers due to the centre hole being too smal for the hub

It isn't. PCD of a Minor is 101.6mm (4 inches). Some (if not all) of the above are that, but 101mm is NOT close enough

The factory tolerance for wheel fitment on ANY new car is 0.61mm or less.

So if new factory made cars can allow a 0.61mm give then im sure other people can.

...and if you're prepared to risk it on very thin studs that are about 40 years old, good luck to you.

The problem with the tolerance being '0.61mm' concept is that it neglects the fact that it can be 0.61mm out in the wrong direction. And assuming the mog had as good-er tolerances as a modern car on the studs, which presumably have some kind of tolerance on them, then the studs could be 0.61mm out - also in the wrong direction. So you could end up with a 99.39 mm PCD wheel pulling 102.21mm studs.

You're relying on the tolerance meaning that the holes on the wheel are closer to the minor's spacing than the indicated spec might suggest, but you have to remember they can also be further from the minor's spec by just as much.

Someone on the Retro-Rides forum had a mate who got killed when a 100mm PCD wheel 'let go' on his Imp.
There's plenty of choice in 4x4" in the aftermarket at least.

Yes - I used Vauxhall wheels on my Mini (first non 'Works' Mini with 12" wheels!) - we made up special wheel nuts from larger size hex bar with taper to suit. They gave no problems on many many Autocross events. The original wheel nuts would have soon pulled through the larger stud holes on the Vaux wheels.
