Hi,
We need some urgent help...can anyone tell me how we fit the chrome trim in to the front windscreen?
It's driving us mad...working on her trying at the mo. Got MOT Saturday!
Thanks.

Don't worry - its not a part that is needed for the MOT. It is a bit fiddly but there is a tool that is available for fitting this. It is available from ESM about £11.50, part gls 150. These are often on ebay as well.

It depends which model you have. If the trim is in two halves then it is a much more difficult job compared to the later one piece 'plastic chrome'

I think this is a 1965 car - hence the post name from what I remember of the first pic, so this tool should be ok.

I made a tool from stout wire and a file handle - it works. But a large blade screwdriver can be used too. Certainly not needed for MOT - you don't even need a windscreen!

This process usually takes longer than fitting the screen, it is essential to make sure this strip is pushed well into the corners so that the rubber spreads into same.

Thanks everyone. We got sorted in the end. Well she's all ready. I think  for her MOT tomorrow. We noticed a slight water leak from the water pump but will sort that over the weekend. Hope MOT tester is in a good mood tomorrow.
Will let you all know. Here's a picture of the old gal. Welcome to ~Hannah~ the restoration on a budget. Last time she was on the road was 2006.
