A rather helpful resource for alternatives to some of the 0870 numbers.
I just renewed my tax disc on the phone by calling:
01792 782341 instead of the 0870 number given on the renewal form.
Ask for Vehicle Licence Applications when they answer with 'Switchboard'.
I know you can do it online but this was fast.

Isnt 0870 national rate? if it is then unless your in the same dialling code itll cost you the same wont it?
If its not national rate then is it local rate? in which case it would be cheaper to call if your out of the area.
Or am i missing somthing

The other thing is that most mobiles can dial a geographic area, i.e. 01, 02 but anything beginning with 08 is chargable.
Saves me a fortune calling telephone banking!
