Hi,
I have a 1955 splitscreen 4 door saloon.
Here are the rear light assemblies that I have..
I'm having some trouble locating new parts. The rubber (A) is the same as later models right? Lamp base to wing. The base itself (B) I can't find replacements anywhere. The rubber between lamp chrome and lamp base (C) I can't find except as a complete lamp set.
They are Lucas L549, is this the original fitting for a 1955 saloon?

I have a 1954 2 door and those are the same lamps I have.
I have seen a few ebay sites selling them although usually as a complete lamp, which is a nuisance.
If you don't mind dealing with someone outside the UK, try this guy in Australia
www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au. He seems to have all kinds of seals/gaskets etc.

i'm now in need of replacing the body coloured lamp bases. Is there anywhere that sells them?
It appears that from '56 they were replaced with this...
Is this likely to bolt on as a direct replacement for what i currently have? I.e. the lamp base would be replaced with the fully chrome base.

As far as know, no one does the original lamp bases. A friend of mine has just spent a fair amount of time restoring his including drilling out sheared studs and retapping holes, though they are about if you search. Club spares may be worth a try. Yours don't look any worse than his were.
The Minor 1000 ones in the photo above with the chrome bases are a direct replacement, it depends on how bothered you are about the correct ones - many series 2s have the chrome based 1000 ones on these days.

Try The Electrical Parts Company Ltd. Tel 01584 811118. They are suppliers of obsolete Lucas electrical spares. They were able to supply me with a replacement reversing light lens.

We had to do the same when rebuilding our Daughter's 56 splitty.
We couldn't find any new mazac bases so rubbed it down and resprayed it, then mounted the new light unit to it.

I share your anguishes ferret76! My '54 Moggie has the early glass lenses and I was unable to find the bases also...
You really must restore them!
