Brake pedal

Hi all,

I've been driving my late model traveller Morris quite a lot after a fairly long break, and after having replaced the clutch adjusting rod which had snapped, and I've noticed that the brake pedal creaks quite a bit - I don't remember it doing that in the past. When my foot isn't on the pedal, the pedal's loose enough to move left and right a little way (maybe 6 or 7 mm), and I've noticed that I tend to push more on the right side of the pedal because of how close it is to the clutch (and how big my feet are...).

My question is, should I be worried that the pedal, or the moving parts, might be wearing out? I've not been underneath for a bit, so I don't know whether there are any visual signs of wear. Do owners usually grease the pedal assembly? Is it common for the brake pedal parts to wear? It's low mileage, albeit mostly round town.

Thanks for any advice!

might be the bushes in the pedal, they can be knocked out and replaced, they are bronze bushes

Meantime - dose the pivot point/bushes with heavy oil and see if that seems any better.

Mine squeaks about half the time, but it is just rubbing ever so slightly on the sheetmetal cover.

If you remove the assembly to get at the bushes it is a good time to drill
a hole through the pedal and the new bush so that you can add oil easily.
EP90 (rear axle oil) will cling and lubricate in there for a very long time.
