I have cast into my head the name 'Qualcast' , I take it this is the lawn mower people? What is the connection, surely it wasn't cast by them?

Qualcast - short for quality castings was a foundry first, who later went on to produce lawnmowers from its own castings. I have often found their name cast into other vintage machinery for which they provided the castings.

A bit more history can be found on

I remember it as BermidQualcast who made castings (cylinder heads) for BMC. My father was the Rover Castings buyer at Solihull.
