A Serious point for photobucket users [now, play with pics!]

Post by d_harris »

I've just done a little experiment with users on the forum who have photobucket pictures on the site.

I was suprised by the number of users whose photobucket accounts are not protected, meaning that I could (if I was so inclined) view every single photo that they had hosted. :o

If thats what you want thats fine. I have one or two pics in my photobucket that I wouldn't want everyone to be able to view so my account is protected.

If you want to know how to protect your account its really really easy

Log in, go to account options and then in the options under album settings set it to private and use some kind of meaningful password (don't put "password" or something like that or your main account pwd) :D

Then if someone who is inclined to hack into your photobucket has a go they are a whole heap less likely to be able to....

If you have questions feel free to PM Me.

If you don't want to use photo bucket, there will soon be another way to get pictures onto the messageboard.

Watch this space!

...or rather the space below the reply textbox!

Good point Dan. Mine is protected but I know one or two people were shocked when they realised theirs weren't.

That sounds like good news, Jon! Will await with barely confined anticipation!

Actually it didn't work at first (still pointing to the test site!)

Just the first time I saw it, and thought that it might not be fully available yet.

Its a good little feature Jon. Any idea how long pics may stay up for?

10 seconds earlier and it didn't work!

We've got 160GB storage.... max file size about 60k... I would hope until everyone's got bored with the post...

I may put the same idea into the signatures, but pics there will have to be permanent (and smaller). We're thinking about a gallery feature in the main website for more permanent 'albums'

Like I say, it was a picture roulette from the random filenames on my desktop (all straight off the camera and not renamed) That golf is on ebay at the mo, hence the pic kicking about.........

Mines from a Kart mangled by either my son or his mates - thankfully not his own which is tucked up in the garage.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
