Ok it has come to the point where the car is ready for a re-spray, the question is;
- Is it better/easier to put all the wings/bonnet/boot back onto the car to respray in situ or keep them off and spray seperatly?
Also how good is a paint job likely to be if it costs £800-£1000? this is one of my quotes.
Cheers guys! hope ur al enjoying your minors in the sun!

I always fit the doors, but leave off the wings, boot and bonnet. The doors a a big heavy panel to try and fit without scraping them or the body work surrounding. You want a good coat of paint on the wing mounting edges, especailly the back which you wouldnt get if the wings are on.
I would ask to see some of the work that the painter has carried out before, spray jobs vary greatly and most of the money is to pay for labour. I recently bough some cellouse for the lowllight and the paint alone was £220. I always find that word of mouth is best recommendation for a painter!!

Cheers David. I am thinking of hand painting the inside lip (mounting edge) of the wings in something else like hammerite over the top of the paint just to give it a bit more protection. Do you recomend this?
I live in cheltenham so if anyone has any experience with sprayers round here any comments would be greatfuly recieved.
The spray shop I was thinking of using just got raided and several arrests made for drugs and things to do with prostitutes

so uh...wont be going there anytime soon!
