To get a pass you can superglue the split, however it would still be an idea to replace the boot!

Annoying that they are splitting after less than a year on Fenchurch. At least they are pretty easy to change, unlike the steering rack gaiters.

if the big ends are rattling after only 9thou. I would try to have the crank And Con rods checked for ovality. If the original had a big end badly knocking, the recon may have had the crank reground but may not have had new conrods or at least a new one in the piston with the worst damage to the big end. It's alway good practice to renew a con rod that has had a big end knock they become oval and soon rip the new bearings to bits.A good recon should last far longer than 9thou, more like 70 or 80.The trouble is that you don't know what has been reconned Always better to rebuild them yourself, then you know what has been sorted Good luck with it

it turns out the big ends were fine it turns out the timing was a bit out and new track rod ends have been fitted so i should be ok now

How can big-ends be confused with 'timing' ???????????? And new boots for the TRE are available - you probably didn't need new joints.

it was a slight rumble at certian revs, when the oil was hot, which led me to think big enrd or mains starting to go.i am told that if the timing is out i am told that it can make the engine knock slightly.the oil pressure was good60 on a run 35 on tick over when the oil is hot,so thats more than enough. i am also told that if the flywheel is not tight enough you can get the same noise. i did go to a specilist in the london area,he did a lot of work and did not charge me.thats a very good thing for custermer relations, and i will continue to use them in the future,i am more than happy

Who was it? It would be handy to know the name of a specialist that does a lot of work without charging for it! :D

im not saying i am a good custmer,it was good custmer relations.i will say good old fashioned busness.they look after me well.they did supply the engine.there have been some faulty ones from the suppliers they use.this was 2 years ago, there was a fault with the reconditioning process,he was checking there quality of workmanship

But surely as a good customer you'd want to put more business their way and help your fellow Minor owners? It's not easy trying to find a good Minor specialist in the London area.
