There is a bracket with a hole in it fitted to the inside of each of the rear wings on my 69 Traveller.
Are they for mudlaps?

Without a picture it's difficult to say, but I would assume they were for mudflaps.

Those were not a factory extra, but may have been fitted by the dealer or a previous owner at any time during the last 39 years.

Just having one hole sounds odd though, surely two holes would be needed to fix flaps correctly?

There is a bracket on the inner wings above the shackle and near the wiring that was used during production for lifting, often its rusted away or been removed.
