Now Ive heard a lot about certain stainless LCB manifolds cracking and so on. Are there ones to avoid? Which one is the best bet to go for Value for money wise?

Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!
Well - Maniflow get a good name - and yes, stainless ones seem to be prone to cracking. No need for stainless of course - that part of the system doesn't rust because it gets hot enough to drive away any moisture.
That's the one (but there are less expensive suppliers of similar manifolds) - but really - for your engine it's NOT the top priority!! It would help of course, after you fitted a 12G940 head and a larger bore HIF 38 carb - but these will be #1 and #2 respectively - the LCB being #3 and would need a good flowing exhaust system attached.
Well the thing is I have the metro cam fitted, and a howley manifold and HIF38, so i figured to have the manifold and corresponding exhaust system all present. Then when i can ill fit the 12G940 head fitted to the engine once im happy that it and the rest of the car is working properly!
Or do i run the current set up with the standard HS2 and cruddy two part exhaust/inlet manifold (thus having to buy a corresponding exhaust system)?

Run the bigger carb and standard exhaust - just cut the exhaust section off the old combined manifold and use it - make sure you cut into the inlet section so no unwanted holes in the exhaust section!!! The 940 head is the top priority.
I would save the two-piece manifold - and butcher a more common one-piece manifold. The exhaust flow is slight better in the later manifolds anyway. Quite a job to fabricate an lcb - but if you have the facilities! May be easier to buy a v cheap second hand Mini lcb - and modify that to fit. That's my plan - someday soon - although it's been the 'plan' for 5 years now!!!!!
