I don't think I have the hang of the search function yet, so I apoligise if this is a repeated query.

1969 Minor.

I see no provisions for rear seat belts. Has anyone done this before, and if so, where can I go to find the information on installation and a supplier?

Yes, it's definitely possible but I've only done a traveller so I'll leave it to someone else to describe how to fit them to a saloon...

Hi "ims101'. No I haven't. I've pulled out the rear seat and it will be an easy job to fit the inboard halves (they will go right thru the floor just above the propshaft), but the outboard halves have me stumped.

I don't have access to fit the mounting plates. I would be most appreciative of any advice or photos.

These are where they go on my traveller. I'm not sure but I think with the saloon you can mount the reel on the parcel shelf.

Rear mounting in a saloon. You can just see the offset bracket under the reel. This lifts the reel enough to clear the back of the seat. The bracket and nuts/bolts used were all supplied with the Belt (securon)

I have a specific question on the 2d photograph. It appears that if I do mount the outboard half in that spot, I don't have access from the outside of the car. How did you secure it?

That bulge it's bolted to is the wheel arch. Take the back wheel off and you can easily get to the other side to attach the plate.

Personally I would only fit three-point belts because lap belts can cause quite nasty injuries.

Second that - 'lap' belts are useless. The bolts through the tunnel in the centre of the car - make sure they are not too long or they can foul the prop shaft on full bump. Wherever you fit the mounts - be sure to use large spreader plates to make sure the bolt heads don't pull through the body in a smash.

Sorry webmaster (bpr81a) but that looks hideous!!!!!
You can drill holes in the parcel shelf in a line then file a nice neat slot, get some thin tubbing about 20-25 cm and cut it along the length push the tube around the metal so there are no sharp edges. From inside the boot push the buckle of the seat belt up through the slot (you have to remove the back seat) mark where the seat belt real fits on the back of the boot drill a hole and bolt it on. The other end bolts on the chassis under the seat base and the other part that the buckle clips into bolts through the boot in the middle of the back seat. When the seat is back in place it all look nice and neat you can't see any of the workings just the belt.

Very Neat! Never thought of that. Its not my car by the way....Its my son's, and i doubt there's room in the boot, what with all the sub woofers.......

But I don't agree that the first idea looks 'hideous' - looks just fine to me !

Where did you get your seat belts from ? How much and did you get 254's or 264's.

ESM. I think they are 254s but they are slightly too short to comfortably accommodate a typical sized adult when mounted on the traveller wheelarch. I'm planning to get a pair of 264s for the trav and move the 254s over to my saloon. From the diagrams on Securon's web site it looks like there is a top mounting point that will need removing from the 264 to turn it into effectively a longer version of the 254.
