Morris Minor Owners Club

hello,

I am french (you can read my english is bad, sorry), and i bought in february a Morris minor 1000, near Birmingham.

But now the engine is out of order. I need a new one, but in France there is no Morris minor parts. So i am looking for a engine I can put easy in my minor. Easy because I am not very good in mechanical.

Some people say me, i can put mini engine, bmc 1100-1300 engine, marina engine. But I am not sur. I see on this forum some people put a 1275, but I think this engine is not the cheapest i can found ?

So which engine can I put ?

Bonjour Stéphane - Mini engine is no use - 948/1098/1275 engine from MG Midget / AH Sprite (NOT the later 1500 Triumph engine) will fit, or yes Marina 1275 can be used. But why is the engine 'out of order' - has it seized up completely - can it not be repaired ?

before, the engine, use a lot of oil. When I start it, i have to clean the spark. there is a lot of oil on they and the engine don't want to go.

And now the up of the motor (i can't find the name ...), is broken.

For me, it's too difficult to repair, i must pay someone to do it. I prefer buy a new motor, put it in the car, i already do that, it's not very difficult (if I find the good engine).

There is no very mutch midget or marina in france ... i think i must come in UK to buy my motor.

You could look at buying a reconditioned engine from a British supplier and having it shipped over to france. But i dont know how much money your looking to spend......

I don't know the price of the engine (used, or reconditionned, or find on a car with no MOT ...), so i can't answer.
I send mail to british supplier, to ask the engine price and post price. And I see, when i receiv the answer.

I already look on ebay.co.uk at first. I have already buy some parts on ebay, but never an engine, and i m not sur it can be post.
