Engine Rebuild

I am looking to get the 948cc engine from my wife's Minor re-built, and was wondering if anyone could recommend someone for the job. We live in Oxfordshire.
Having rebuilt various motorcycle engines, I had considered doing it myself, but would prefer entrusting someone who has done a few A series engines before.
Any advice gratefully received.

Have you tried Minorparts of Oxford
http://www.minorpartsofoxford.co.uk/
They are based in Chipping Norton not to far from you, I am sure they can help.
If you join the club, in the magazine there are lots of useful contacts and suppliers who will supply parts at a far more reasonable price than your local motor factor.
Just to give you an idea engines are available from around £500 +vat reconditioned

If you've done an engine before, I can't think there's anything tricky in an A. As always, use decent bits, replace anything that can wear, and I can't see you having a problem.
I've done one or two engines, and the A seems the most straigtforward of them all.

Rob Walkers in Chipping Norton are engine re-conditioners who are well known for BMC engines. I can recommend him as he does a lot of work for my racing engines.
I think you will find Minorparts is in Oxford , not Chipping Norton . He has lots of second hand parts , but I'm not sure if he rebuilds engines.

The bonnet on our Traveller had faded and discoloured where it had been kept under plastic in the sun , and I asked him if he had a good one , when he said yes I sent my wife along and he just took advantage of the fact that she knew nothing about paintwork etc and sold her one where it had been thickly painted and left outside for years in the sun so it was a maze of cracks in the paint and would have taken months to rub down. I sent it to the tip in the end and repainted the original.

Thanks for your replys, guys. The engine will be off to Rob Walker's in Chipping Norton, just as soon as I get my engine hoist back.
