MM air filter

Post by DAVIDMCCULLOUGH »

Does the big MM airfilter come apart for cleaning? There doesnt seem to be any obvious way.

I also have an export oil bath filter that was fitted as standard on the ckd cars built in Dublin but would prefer to use the home market one as that the one it should have!

I dont think its called an air filter but a silencer to quieten the intake roar, and no they dont come apart! My original one was the oil bath type which used to come apart for washing and re oiling

Oh I thouht the all came apart

we mean this type, so it doesnt come apart? So does the air actually get filtered if this is just a silencer?

It is indeed an air silencer not an air filter although it will probably filter out dead flies. It does not come apart though I suppose that if you have a desperate urge to clean it you could try rinsing it in parafin and then drying it thoroughly. Its most useful purpose seems to be providing somewhere to hang the throttle return spring.

Thats the same one I have fitted and it doesnt come apart and it doesnt filter! it just reduces induction noise, so everything must get sucked in!
