I have to do the following jobs in the shortest possible time:
Replace rear drums, cylinders, pads.
Change diff
Change rear springs.
I have limited width where he is parked and can only really have adequate working room on one side.
What is the quickest method?
I suspect undo rear flexi union, handbrake cables and propshaft bolts, dampers and shackle bolts and drag the rear axle out and do it all remotely.
Sound about right?

Yes, I did my rebuild with only room for one side at a time and it is a pain having to replace most things just to move the car over. the half shafts will both have to be withdrawn a fair way to allow the diff removal anyway so I would remove the whole unit as one. You can then put it on the lounge floor and admire it, i'm sure your lady wouldn't mind!
Well not to put too fine a point on it.... she's not to good lifting heavy items but I'm sure she would make an exception in order to beat me to death with it.

You can do the diff by removing one half shaft completely then moving the car to get access to the other side (that's how I did my last one as there was too much junk either side of the garage to get access to both at the same time) However I'm sure it would be more pleasant to do it with the axle off the car.
When replacing the rear cylinders you may as well do the rear axle brake pipes - access to the T piece is better off the car.
Doing the springs one at a time or both together doesn't make a lot of difference as long as the car is well supported.
So basically either way is ok, but if you are removing the axle complete, them make sure you have the shell very well supported bearing in mind that removing the front spring pin/bolt/shaft/thingy can need a lot of brute force!
