I have a 'slipping clutch' problem. 3 months ago her clutch was replaced with a new, good quality one as she was 'slipping' badly - especially under pressure - e.g. on a hill. New clutch seemed to sort out the problem but the same thing has begun to happen again. The only other info I can give is that she does have an oil leak - quite a bad one but I'm not sure where from as yet. When the clutch was replaced last time the garage said that the old clutch did not have any oil on it so I ruled out the thought that it could be oil leaking onto the clutch plate. Any ideas please?

Perhaps I should mention that on the last clutch the problem was that one of the pressure springs was broken

Is there any change in the feel of the clutch pedal?

Was the flywheel refaced? And I take it a new pressure plate was used?

I put a new pressure plate and friction plate in my very tired 1098 Midget, and it still slips a bit if being aggressive with it. My 1275 Minor had the same last year, and when testing the brakes a couple of weeks ago I found it could be in first, not moving, with the engine running.

Suffice to say, I'm not convinced the coil spring pressure plates are what could be described as robust...

the clutch pedal feels ok - the only thing to say about it is that on occasion it is a bit difficult to get first gear but it is an intermittent problem.
Unsure about the flywheel but it was certainly a whole new clutch

I would take it back to the garage who fitted it . Three months is a very short life for a clutch . It may only need the release rod free play adjusting again .

How much free play is there at the clutch pedal?

If oil has got to the new clutch it will certainly slip - where is the oil leaking from ? As others have hinted - there must be some free play in the pedal or it will a) wear out the carbon thrust and b) slip!
