slight rumbling noise
i had a recon engine fitted 2 years ago and i have changed the oil regually.the oil pressure is showing 58 on the motorway and 40 on tickover. dont get a knocking big end sound when i pull away, just a slight rumble at aprox 2000 rpm.still not using any oil.its got an unleaded head doing the tappets on monday am i worring too much
Well, it could be main bearings - They rumble rather than knock.
My Metro engine had a bit of a rumble, I've done about 3000 miles in it (all with a heavy right foot), and now it has a vibration, a rumble, and no oil pressure when hot...
You've probably not got anything to worry about, but it's worth being aware there could be a serious problem waiting to happen. At least bearing shells are quite cheap and not too much of a swine to fit (aside from pulling the engine).

40psi on a hot engine at idle sounds fine. You need to get much less before it's time to worry.
The oil pump is not designed to give releif-valve pressure at idle when hot - if it did that it would be oversize and would reduce the efficiency of the engine when running at speed.
As for the rumble - that sounds annoying. Are you 100% sure it is the engine and not something else in the drive train?
