Hi,

I've tried to follow the guide from the 'technical tips' section of this site for wiring in a water temp gauge but it doesn't marry up with what is in my car.

It says that you need to connect a wire to the light green wire coming out of the voltage regulator on the back of the speedo.

I have located what I believe to be the Voltage Regulator; small box about 1" x 2" at the top of the back of the speedo and with a wooden 'lid'. As mentioned in the guide there are a number of dark green wires going into it, but no light green wires coming out.

Which wire should I be connecting to?!

Wooden lid? The regulator/ stabiliser is all metal!

Take a feed from where the wire to the fuel gauge comes out. Or you can read the back of the stabiliser as they're marked, but I can never remember what the letters are or which is which!

The correct voltage stabiliser will have three dark green wires on the terminal marked 'B' (battery) and one light green wire on the terminal marked 'I' (instrument) which, in this case means the fuel gauge. Connect your temp gauge to this wire although it doesn't sound as though you have the normal set up.

If you dont manage you can always get an add on voltage regulator then connect that straight to the battery

right... sorted...
for whatever reason the voltage reg on the back of the speedo has a wooden top and two 'I' terminals, so connected to the one free 'I' terminal and job done. Thanks for the advice
